Accessibility Statement
The WZB Berlin Social Science Center strives to make the website www.wzb.eu accessible in accordance with legal requirements. The institute aims to comply with the provisions of the Act on Equal Opportunities of Persons with Disabilities (BGG) and the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0) for the implementation of Directive (EU) 2016/2102.
The Federal Monitoring Agency for Accessibility of Information Technology (BFIT-Bund) conducted a simplified review of the website www.wzb.eu on February 2, 2023. In 2023, we then began removing the accessibility barriers identified by the BFIT-Bund. We are continuing to work on improvements to get even closer to the goals of accessibility, as not all of the current BITV requirements have been met yet.
Areas that Are Not Accessible
- PDF downloads: Many of the PDF files currently available for download are not yet accessible. We have set ourselves the goal of offering PDF files that are as accessible as possible in the future, but we are still in the process of doing so. If you need an accessible PDF document, please contact us by email at presse [at] wzb.eu.
- Keyboard controls for the slider on the homepage are still being implemented.
- There are still some shortcomings in the event listings, as the order of date and title is not yet accessible.
Texts in German Sign Language and Easy Language
Videos in German Sign Language (GSL) are available to introduce the WZB, its main topics, and how to navigate the website. The WZB is also presented in Easy Language.

Arbitration Procedure
If you are not satisfied with the responses you receive from the above contact option, you may submit a request to initiate an arbitration procedure in accordance with the Act on Equal Opportunities of Persons with Disabilities (BGG). The arbitration board, pursuant to § 16 BGG, has the task of settling disputes between people with disabilities and federal public authorities, particularly on the subject of accessibility, out of court. The arbitration procedure is free of charge. Legal counsel does not need to be involved.
Further information on the procedure and how to apply can be found on the website of the conciliation body under the Act on Equal Opportunities of Persons with Disabilities (BGG).
