Social Inequalities in Education and Employment Experiences
First Workshop of the Annual Anglo-German Workshop Series on Skill Formation in Context
The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers from Germany and the UK to exchange information and insights regarding their research approach and findings on skill formation in context. While in Germany the transition through the education system and into employment is well structured and organised through the dual system, the UK adopts a more liberal approach characterised by a lack of regulation and little support for young people not attending university. How do these different socio-economic and cultural contexts shape individual’s skill development and labour market experiences? What are the implications for men and women from different socio-economic backgrounds?
