Prof. Dr. Monika Heupel

Monika Heupel was a senior research fellow at the WZB unit Global Governance from October 2009 until the end of 2014. After she finished her master studies at the University of Warwick on “The West and ’Islamic Fundamentalism’: A Foucauldian Analysis with Emphasis on Discourses on Sudan”, she started her doctoral studies at the University of Bremen. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the United Nations University, Tokyo (2005–2006), and a Transatlantic Post-Doctorate Fellow for International Relations and Security at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, Berlin; at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Washington D.C.; and at Chatham House, London (2006–2008). Later, she was a research associate at the Free University of Berlin, at the Center for Transnational Relations, Foreign and Security Policy (2008–2009). Since September 2014, she is Junior Professor for Political Science at the University of Bamberg.
