The Junior Research Group examines transitions from educational to vocational systems internationally from both political science and sociological perspectives. The research focuses primarily on the educational system and social inequality within German educational policy since 1949, institutional and political change within vocational training policies in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Denmark, as well employment opportunities for vocationally educated young people in these countries. Furthermore, the academic performance of girls and women, as well as the lack of academic performance of boys and men, is analyzed – a trend observed nationally and internationally.

The group is financed through the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
