Appointment standards for professors in international and disciplinary comparison

Which evaluation criteria are used in appointment procedures? And how do the requirements vary between different disciplines?
In our project, we want to answer these questions through a survey of professors.
The chosen disciplines are: mathematics, physics, economics, political sciences, social sciences and German studies.
Furthermore we carry out a comparison between the decentralized system of appointments in the hands of universities in Germany and the more centralized system in Italy.
The WZB, the DZHW in Hannover and the EUI (European University Institute, Fiesole) cooperate in this research project.
