K.W. Deutsch Visiting Professorship
Each year, the WZB hosts a Karl W. Deutsch visiting professor. This visiting professorship was initiated in memory of the great political and social scientist. Social scientists who excel in their scientific achievements or have promising research ideas in the field of Karl W. Deutsch’s own research interests, are invited to the WZB for a two-month research residency. This visiting professorship enables the WZB to honor the life and work of its longstanding director.
Karl W. Deutsch emigrated to the USA in 1938, where he was Professor of Political Science at various universities – most recently Harvard. Karl W. Deutsch was director of the WZB between 1977 and 1987.
